Why Joyfully Becoming Collective

We all have times of suffering in the dark nights of the soul, to then find the courage to seek the healing of our hearts. Much like the resilience of trees reaching towards the light, therapy helps us untangle the knots of life's experiences, guiding us through our own growth and healing, and leading us towards the radiant light of understanding and self compassion.

Trees, which allow us to breathe, provide a wonderful metaphor. Their roots go deep into history, just as our own roots are part of our epigenetic story. The roots in our being come from two family stories merging together. These stories shape our nervous systems in utero, even before conception. It's amazing that we were in our grandmothers before we were even a twinkle in our parents' eyes.

Our epigenetic stories come in through our nervous systems, setting the template on which we build our own stories. How our families develop attachment styles impacts how we move through our days, building our own narratives. As children, we are dependent on our families and our communities, and how we are received by them informs how we grow our beliefs about ourselves. The story we tell ourselves about who we are is what our bodies believe. We can wound ourselves by repeating the stories we believe to be true, based on childhood mythology that we've inherited and co-created.

The beautiful thing about trees is that no matter how many storms they may suffer through, they always reach for the light. They may be broken, yet always reaching for the nourishment of the sun. What we now know about trees is that underground there is the connective tissue of mycelium. Mycelium connects trees to each other, and when one is wounded, the others nourish it.

Nature always finds ways to heal herself, and we can do the same in our own lives. Our bodies are hard-wired for healing, it is in our genetic code. By connecting with others through therapy, we can heal the wounds that have blocked us from reaching the light within ourselves and in our relationships. Therapy helps clear the way to see ourselves with more truth by untangling the threads of misconceptions and negative believes we have carried in our hearts. Our nervous systems heal as we unearth the deeper truth of our stories with a compassionate witness.

It is in relationships that we are wounded, so too, it is in relationships that we are healed. Like mycelium, the threads of all our stories are universal and interweave . As we understand ourselves and each other, we are nourished through our therapeutic relationships. Our wounds do not have to define us. They give us a challenge to grow ever towards the light.

Therapy helps to untangle the knots that have developed in the nervous system based on childhood experiences and traumatic events that occurred along the way.

Utilizing the tools of neuropsychology, Somatic Experiencing, poly-vagal theory, combined with the remarkable power of storytelling through psychodrama, we can rewrite our inner narratives and stand in our strength and re-embody joy.

Join us on this journey to healing and growth, where through the tools of therapy, we joyfully become a supportive alliance, and reach together towards the light.
